Finding the right counsellor is important but can seem difficult. Why choose me?
I am approachable and down to earth and I will support you at your own pace in a relaxed and safe environment. I am a competent practitioner who will show a deep empathic understanding and warmth within the sessions. I also have the ability to communicate with sensitivity, passion and with a commitment to improving your situation.
I am a qualified psychotherapist and a registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). I practice person-centred and emotion-focused therapy and have experience working in many different areas including bereavement, anxiety, depression and post-traumatic stress. I aim to form an open and genuine therapeutic relationship with you to offer guidance and support with whatever your needs are. I offer a non-judgemental and encouraging style to explore the concerns that bring you to seek counselling.
I have 6 years’ experience of working within the Third sector which includes MIND and the Samaritans where I was also an outreach worker in the community. I also have extensive experience of working with young people (11-25), including providing counselling within educational settings. My counselling experience also includes over 4 years working in the NHS Counselling Psychology Service within SBUHB, which as part of its work, offered bereavement support to patients. This experience has provided me with the skills of working with a range of different client issues and approaches and I will draw from these to provide the right support for what you need. I hold an enhanced certificate from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS), ICO registered and I am insured to practice.
